Exercise is good for us at every stage of life. But for women living with postmenopausal osteoporosis, moderate and regular exercise can help maintain bone health and prevent further bone loss. Exercise can also help improve balance, flexibility, and strength, which can reduce the chances of a fall.

Resistance exercises

Image of woman using free weights Resistance exercises involve the use of free weights or weight machines to perform a series of repetitions that target specific muscle groups. The key is to start at a low weight and then gradually increase it, as this increase in weight is what improves your muscle mass and bone health.


Low-impact, weight-bearing exercise

When you do low-impact, weight-bearing exercises such as gardening, walking, climbing stairs, and dancing, you work against gravity and/or carry weight. Of course, not all of these activities are safe for everyone.
